On Tuesday, October 28th, 2014, Nobel Laureate Leymah Gbowee addressed a sold-out crowd on the importance of living peace each and every day, by "not allowing evil to triumph over good," and to "do one thing each day that everyone else is scared to do."

Leymah Gbowee is a Liberian peacebuilder, social worker, women's rights advocate and mother. In 2011, she received the Nobel Peace Prize for mobilizing and organizing "women across ethnic and religious dividing lines to bring an end to the long war in Liberia, and to ensure women's participation in elections. She has since worked to enhance the influence of women in West Africa during and after war."

Following the talk, UCI's Center for Citizen Peacebuilding presented Ms. Gbowee with its Citizen Peacebuilding Award.

Peace is more than the absence of war. Peace is accord. Harmony.
