Kelly Thornton Hallman

Founder, Board Chair, & Director of Fun BIO

Kelly Thornton Hallman is a mother of two, philanthropist, as well as the Founder, Board Chair, and “Director of Fun” for the Center for Living Peace. She is also a member of the Orange County Community Foundation Board of Directors and the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Program Ubuntu Council.

Jim began his involvement with the Center for Living Peace as a Global Peace Ambassador in Aspen Colorado in January of 2012. Since then he has been instrumental in working together with the board to create opportunities for the newly created Living Peace Foundation. Jim is currently President of the Board and also serves the foundation as Chief of Peace.

Jeffrey Berkus

Jeffrey Berkus is an award-winning architect, CEO, and co-creator of the Living Peace Foundation. Jeffrey graduated from the College of Environmental Design at The University of Colorado, Boulder and is licensed in seven states. With over thirty years of architectural experience, he has a large repertoire of commercial and residential projects and has been a featured panel member for seminars at nationally recognized conferences. Through his open and engaging communication style, Jeffrey helps build consensus within multi-disciplinary teams.

Wendy Kilbourne Read

Wendy Kilbourne Read

BOARD MEMBER BIO

Wendy Kilbourne Read was an actress starring on an NBC television series when she volunteered to work with a 6-year-old foster child. Over the next 12 years, she watched as he was moved 27 times. His experience ultimately inspired her to quit acting and pursue a career as an advocate for foster youth.

Building on her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education, Wendy completed law school and is now a licensed attorney in Santa Barbara with with over twenty years of experience in foster care, education, and non-profit law.

A strong believer in the power of education to transform lives and communities, she is a long-time volunteer and advisor to many of Santa Barbara’s non-profit organizations focused on underserved populations.

Wendy and her husband James live in Santa Barbara and have two grown children.

Mick Smith is attending college with a major in History. He is very interested in how political climates, pervasive culture, economic conditions, and historical undertones affect our society and how we all live in peace.
